Step into my world of creative exploration on the 'fun' page. Explore my personal creative projects where I experiment with my visual storytelling and craft stories close to my heart.
The ability to visually tell stories is the center of my origin in video editing. It is the original source that pulled me towards this medium, and it’s important to come back to that essence.
In this video you can see a snapshot of projects with a focus on creativity and storytelling. Some commissioned, some just for the love of the edit.
The Dream Dealer is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping devastated communities. To raise $7000 for Haiti, Dan Thiessen (Gym owner) pledges to use an echo bike for 12 straight hours burning 7000 calories. The Dream Dealer Documentary is a story of giving: two brothers who share a passion of uplifting others and a community that supports them wholeheartedly to create something bigger than themselves.
I was requested to bring their story to life - to share the dedication, struggles, support and achievement they experienced that day on film. It was fun to renew my long-form storytelling skills, and I believe we were able to achieve their goals with this piece.

The Genesis Gaming series has always been close to my heart; I attribute a lot of personal and professional growth to working that series over the years. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the event in 2023, but with some time off during the holidays I couldn’t help but make a piece for fun.
I’ve always wanted to create a piece based off of a hip-hop/rap track. This song captured the energy of competition and the desire to be the best that Genesis radiates, so I really enjoyed working with it! As the lyrics are relevant to the story I want to tell, I kept the edit stylistically simple - no additional SFX or samples so that the music track could shine. All in all it was a success that I really, really enjoyed doing as potentially my last competitive smash video.
Zain has been one of my favorite players to rise on the competitive melee scene. I really appreciate his mental approach to the game and how he uses his growth through the experience of competition - the grind, the triumphs, the struggles - to positively impact his self-reflection on life.
I wanted to experiment with a new approach to editing technically and stylistically. Zain’s journey was a great canvas to edit to. I ‘sampled’ a lot of narrative pieces from different media, akin to how Hip-Hop samples media and/other music, building upon it to create something new. Non-diegetic SFX was heavily incorporated; it isn’t my usual approach, but I was inspired by Joseph Vincent’s work. Ultimately, I hoped to create a piece that showcased Zain’s career progression while simultaneously delving into his inspiring mental approach to improving at both game and life.
Drawing from my experience working for multiple Smash Bros. gaming events, I set out to create a 10 minute short covering the biggest rivalry in the scene at that time. What resulted was something I never expected - a 55 minute found-footage documentary. Interviewing the principal players of the feud and other marquee figures in the Smash 4 community, 「Rivalries」 covers over a year of matches between 2 titans of the game. What does it mean to have someone push you to your limit? This documentary illuminates that.

Inspired after re-watching the legendary Game 7 of the Toronto/Philadelphia series, I decided to edit my rendition of Kawhi’s shot. I didn't think the individual clips truly captured the frantic anticipation of the moment; so I decided to to quickly whip up a video that better portrays that experience.
Relive the unforgettable moment of 'The Shot' in this artistic portrayal of Kawhi Leonard’s game winner. Immerse yourself in the tension, anticipation, and ultimate triumph that defined an iconic moment forever etched in NBA history.
Directed by Malube Uhindu-Gingala, Grandpa Was Here follows a French-Canadian young man who struggles with his sexual identity in the face of his family, who adheres to cultural roots. I was the video editor for this short film.
